Bea Garding Schubert studied at Braunschweig University of Art and currently lives and works between Sebbenhausen and Mallorca. Garding Schubert’s vibrant, explosively coloured paintings are powerful statements of hope and optimism.

In her most recent series, Home, Garding Schubert explores notions of trust and confidence in relation to domestic space. In these wildly painterly works made with brushes, spraypaint and squeegee, she paints wet on wet, drawing quickly and spontaneously into the paint layer, often allowing the paint to pool and run in places. Within these expressive and free-flowing compositions Garding Schubert places the image of the bird, a symbol she associates with freedom and perspective. Birds appear to soar upwards on the energetic currents of her paintings towards a brighter, more positive future; towards a better world.
