To help alleviate concerns a purchaser may have when buying artwork unseen, we offer a 14-day cooling-off period where artwork has not been viewed in person. Once the artwork has been delivered to the purchaser, the 14-day period begins. During that time, the purchaser has the option to change their mind should the piece not meet their expectations. This does not apply to sculpture or commissioned work and does not apply to overseas purchases, although we are happy to discuss bespoke services.
The artwork will then be returned to the gallery, which can either be by collection or shipped in the same way it was delivered. As long as the artwork is in the same condition that it left the gallery, a full refund is provided to the purchaser, without any penalties being added. Packaging must be kept during this period, so that it can be used for returning the item. Return shipment will be covered by the gallery unless otherwise indicated.
A certificate of authenticity and a valuation certificate is provided with all artwork purchased through NoonPowell Fine Art. The certificate of authenticity may either be an artist’s certificate, where it is signed by the artist, or a gallery certificate where it is signed by the gallery. These are for your records and for the artwork’s provenance.
Alexandra Eldridge 'Grace'
Through an ethereal realism, Alexandra Eldridge explores the great themes of life: consciousness and unconsciousness; fear and love; memory and dreams. Well-known for working with unconventional materials such as vintage photographs, venetian plaster, antique scrolls and other fragments and ephemera, within her present body of work, turn of the century plate glass negatives are a stage for her to interweave meaning. Liberation is unleashed onto austere imagery from a bygone time, by being laced with a recipe of spirituality, poetry, mythology and mysticism. With zoomorphic tropes, the work resolves as a journey of exploration into the innate connection between animal and human. The gaze of our ancestors is merged with the dignified and mindful gaze of majestic animals, releasing a theatre of seduction and infinite fantasy. Though further still, there resides an unsettling duality reminding us of the transience and fragility of our own life and dreams.
In a process of mapping and layered meaning, Eldridge makes reference to myriad literary and philosophical sources, including Jungian psychoanalytics; the Prophecy of Merlin; the writings of the Spanish Counter Reformation mystic, St. John of the Cross; as well as the poetry of William Blake, Emily Dickinson, T.S. Elliot, Rainer Maria Rilke, and the Thirteenth-Century Persian poet, Rumi. Eldridge uses these literary influences as a starting point to consider the primacy of emotion and the power of the imagination in establishing a heightened state of being.
